Zagat ratings & review
Food: 21 (very good to excellent)

Decor: 08 (poor to fair)

Service: 13 (fair to good)

Cost: $26 (surveyors' estimate of the price of dinner with one drink and tip)

The “four-alarm” heat will “light up your taste buds” at these “popular” Chinese purveyors of “satisfying Sichuan specialties” at “bargain” rates; if the “curt” service and “scruffy” decor don’t quite “measure up”, you can “get it delivered.”

    •  We made 2 great casseroles and then consumed them. Going for the all in approach, with 2 rounds of 6 ingredients (3 veg, 3 protein) made for a great meal. Glad to have an adventurous group - willingness to join in with beef tendon and duck's tongue was much appreciated!

As in the past, a Tuesday night proved worthwhile for a visit to this venue. The restaurant was busy, but not crowded. We were seated immediately. Our servers did not introduce themselves or review the menu. They were friendly, though, and took our orders efficiently. They delivered the boiling pot of pepper-filled broth and our ingredients promptly and correctly. All of the ingredients appeared be very fresh and were served in ample portions. We prepared two stews consisting of three proteins and three vegetables each. I'm thankful to Megan and Alex for introducing me to duck's tongue and its richness. Alex also shared his idea of tempering the broth's pepperiness with a dollop of peanut sauce. I commend Robyn and Denise for being adventurous enough to taste-test the broth and the atypical ingredients. I enjoyed great food and relaxing, wide-ranging conversation for only 20 bucks (food, tax and tip). It was a memorable evening!
    •  My first "thrifty" meet up. fun group, interesting and thrifty meal!
