“Richly flavored” Sichuan dishes so “unapologetically spicy” you’ll be “sweating like you’re in aerobics class” take center stage at this “cheap”, “real-McCoy” mini-chain; “worn-out” looks and “service with a smirk” lead some to opt for “delivery.”

We were seated promptly. The hostess accommodated an increase in the size of the group by moving us quickly to a larger table. Our server rushed us through our orders and almost forced suggestions upon us. She incorrectly added an extra dish to our order. All of the dishes, though, were ample and very fresh and flavorful. The spicy chicken, fresh sliced fish and mai fun were the best. I enjoyed our lively and laughter-filled conversation. My thanks go to Margery for introducing me to a new ice cream store nearby.
    •  The spicy red pork with anaesthesia-inducing peppers was a flag-carrier as were the garlicky pea shoots and Chinese broccoli. I thought the African Grey (off menu) was a particular highlight. As ever, great company. David, another winner. Salute to all.
